S.H.A.R.E. Nelson History

SHARE Nelson got its start in 2004. The brain child of Pastor Jim Reimer, SHARE Nelson tries to live up to its name, Supporting Humanity and Responsible Ecology. The first year saw great success and provided new challenges. By the end of the first year, SHARE Nelson expanded and bought a delivery truck to meets its needs. Over the course of the last four years, SHARE Nelson has grown in floor space and in employees.

Although SHARE Nelson has grown, its goals have not changed and its mandate to support local humanitarian projects has not altered. With ever increasing costs, fuel costs and dump fees SHARE Nelson has yet to reach its full potential and its main goal, to fully fund Our Daily Bread.

From the very onset the area of Kootenays surrounding Nelson has generously supported SHARE Nelson. It is this generous support of the community that has been the real life line to SHARE Nelson. Although the donated items are free, there is still a high overhead cost in terms of staff for cleaning, sorting and sometimes repairing items that have been donated.
