Hello Saints:

In our readings this week (2 kings 18,19) we see that Hezekiah faced some serious challenges. Hezekiah was the king of Judea at a time when Assyria was a world power. They had successfully conquered every nation to which they set their hearts upon. Now they were on the doorstep of Jerusalem and threatening war. As a means of demoralizing Hezekiah’s army the field commander recounted all the gods they had destroyed along the way. In the process they ridiculed the God of Hezekiah, who is also known as Jehovah Nissi, meaning “the Lord is my Miracle.” Hezekiah didn’t flinch and God brought a great victory. He still performs miracles today, if we but trust him. Trusting God is not a passive ascent to God’s will in our lives, but an active participation in the purposes God has for our lives.

Lately, we have been talking about heroes and this weekend we are going to look at the feminine side of the hero persona. Esther became a heroine to the people of her time. Her influence was so powerful that an annual holiday called Purim was instituted in her honour and is still practiced today.

Esther’s morality and resolve saved an entire race of people from genocide. We will look at her qualities and the possibility of each of us possessing them as well.

August Haiti Trip

The team is now selected and is preparing for the Haiti mission. We are leaving on August the 8th immediately after our Sunday service. We arrive in Haiti on the 10th and will get right to work. While there, we will be participating in a food distribution program, building playground equipment, doing play therapy with the children, teaching children healthy hygiene practices, and holding church services with the Haitian community.

If anyone wants to support our trip, please donate online or use a cheque marked Haiti August Trip. The advantage of supporting our efforts is that 100 percent of the aide will get right to the people. Thank you for supporting this most needy country.

I Can See!

I got my new glasses. I will not be wearing them all the time, but look forward to seeing things I have always missed. It is a learning curve to use them. Watch for the guy with a black device stuck to his glasses (and please be kind!)

Fun in the Park

On Saturday July 31, we are going to have some fun in the Kinsmen Park (9th Ave and 2nd Street in Castlegar) from 2pm onwards. We are having special games for the kids and adults with a corn roast and hot dogs. An outdoor worship service will follow the activities and food. For that Saturday only we will not be meeting in our CCF hall. Bring the kids, bring the neighbours, and let’s have fun in the Park!!!

Summer is a great time to connect with family and friends. We are always pleased when visitors and out of town guest visit us for our worship time together. Feel free to invite any of your house guests to join you for worship. We meet at 6:30 pm at 1801 Conners Rd.

Look forward to seeing you this Sunday at 10:00am.

Pastor's Camp

2010-06-03, Danielle Stack.

The warmth of the sun is on my back AND THAT REMINDS ME OF PASTOR'S CAMP!!!

Hello, I am hoping that this year we will have some Pastors here that have not come before, we will have all our regulars attend again, and some brothers here that are new to the area. Pastor's Camp is affordable, for the whole family, and loads of fun, and it is absolutely refreshing. Take some time away this summer and come to Riondel's Dutch Harbor on July 6-9 for some good fellowship, fishing, golfing, reading and even some prayer. Our Camp is designed to be refreshing and not a "marathon" as some camps can be. Please open the attachment for all the details.

This camp is for church leaders and pastors and their families only. If you have a Pastor friend that you would like to invite, please feel free to do so. We do have a limitation on registration, so please call ahead and confirm booking.

Call today and book your spot or get some more information. Register with Cheryl at 250 227 9181.
