About Our Church

History

Jim and Doreen

Spring of 1991 Pastor Jim Reimer and a small group of Christians from Kootenay Lake Community Church in Crawford Bay began to have Friday night meetings in the Slumber Lodge (Baker Street Inn) for the purpose of developing a congregation in Nelson.
Eventually the meeting time changed from Friday nights to Sunday afternoons and then to Sunday mornings. In 1995 Pastor Jim gave full time attention to developing a congregation in Nelson. He left the pastoral work at Crawford Bay to evangelize and coordinate ministry in Nelson. The congregation grew and purchased their present facility in January 1996. The majority of those attending KOOTENAY CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP are under 35 years old. KCF is active in reaching young people, assisting people in their human struggles, and helping people connect with spiritual realities. Through God’s power, it is common to hear testimonies of lives changed and people healed of emotional and life debilitating problems.

Our two main formats for meetings are:

Large Group: New Time: Sundays at 10:00 AM
This meeting is characterized with up tempo music, coffee times, testimonials, and relevant preaching. The expected length of this meeting is usually 2 hours. The large group meeting is held in the gym at Central Educational Centre located at Mill and Ward Street in Nelson, B.C..

Small Group:
Held on various days and various times, these meetings are held in members homes. The emphasis is on building relationships and intimacy. The attendance of each group is about 6 -12 people. Confidentiality and respect of individuals is a high value.
